Martin Bolt has research interests in the social psychology of religion -- specifically, religious motivations for prosocial conduct. He is also interested in the teaching of psychology and co-authored "The Social Connection" video series with Frank Vattano and David Myers. He is the author of the Instructional Resources guide that accompanies David Myers' Psychology textbook and "Pursuing Human Strengths: A Positive Psychology Guide," published by Worth, Inc.

In 1997, Professor Bolt became one of the first faculty members to receive Calvin College's annual Presidential Award for Exemplary Teaching, the school's highest teaching honor.
